Aetna Managed Choice® POS network SUCKS!

I am so freaking frustrated at my health insurance. My company carries Aetna Managed Choice® POS and their network has gotten progressively worse. When we first picked up Aetna about a year ago it seemed that most all of my employees primary care physicians were in-network. Not so any more.

There are only two (count 'em - two) urgent care facilities in our county (that I can find) and one of them used to be in network. Now neither of them are in network. My cardiologist that I have used for the past ten years is not in network!

Something has to be done about our health care system. I don't know if Obama has the answers but something has to change.

  1. We have been MHPB health insurance customers for years - now we are under the Aetna Choice POS II (boot). Mail Handlers Benefit Plan let the devil in and now we are paying the price. Way to go MHBP you rats. So here comes Aetna Choice POS II - no way to contact them even through MHPB - no way to get a nomination in because no one knows how you can petition for your doctor to be placed back in the network (that you have had for 20 years and knows your history). Oh , you can , but as retired persons you have to pay the 70-30 split instead of the 90-10 split and your deductibles are much higher (more money for MHBP). You can't have them look up a tax id so that you are positive you won't get stuck with an out of network charge. Now how do you get your provider to be back in the network - no one knows - no phone numbers - no nomination procedures - nothing. So 20 years of seeing your doctor and all that history is now available for a 70-30 split plus higher deductibles (more money for MHBP) rather that a 90-10 split with reasonable deductibles. So the bean counters figured out all the doctors in Florida that get a fair charge for their services and decided - nope- can't be in our network we need the doctors that will charge less and agree to our payouts - thus - we lose many good doctors from the network and no nominations available to get back in - sorry our panel is full - what a load of crap that is - Aetna Choice POS II you are cherry picking doctors that will play your stupid payout game so they can build their client list from other doctors - what a shell game and we as patients and insurance customers are under the shell - being moved around from network to network at will of the company. Sure there is an open season, but when you get hit with a major buyout in the health care plan and your network has gone down the toilet then you should be given the right to move prior to the open season. This is a catastrophic event in your insurance program and you have to sit on it for 7 months putting up with this crap - no way. We the people need to have an open season when these major buyouts occur and not be subjected to these PPO crooks who make up these ridiculous networks based on how much money they can make of the doctors that will play along.
