Atticus has this thing with calling his sisters, "stupid", "idiot" and "fat." He has been sent to his room a number of times for this.
This morning he lost is left maxillary central incisor. the first tooth he has lost in a long while and what I think is his third total.
Went to our new house in Linville Land Harbor and moved furniture from the old hose at 168 Galax Loop to the new house with the better view. We worked all day moving furniture, televisions, throwing crap away and rearranging. It took forever to disassemble the bunk beds and reassemble them in an upstairs room of the newer house! Today was a beautiful day- high of about 65 and sunny all day.
Adrienne wanted a playdate so she brought outside a towel and a blanked and wanted to snuggle! How I love my little daughter. We ended up drawing on the driveway with driveway chalk. I drew "The Wheel In the Sky" and Adrienne drew (keeps on turning) and I wrote "Don't know where I'll be tomorrow." I also wrote Adrienne's and Londons name in large block letters and BFid loves Tamara.
Tamara and the kids are staying in Linville Land Harbor this week while I am home.

Concerns about London. Adrienne's new sleeping arrangement. Atticus baseball.
London has been running a fever now for over a week and has been to the doctor three times. At first they thought it might be mononucleosis but the tests were conclusively negative. Now they don't know specifically why so the doctors have put her on a strong form of penicillin.
We are concerned because we hear of other children that run fevers for extended periods of time and it is a symptom of something much worse- cancer. I don't think it is likely but that thought is always in the back of your mind.
London just doesn't feel very well and is moping and laying around. She just isn't herself.
Adrienne has maybe turned a corner. Last night she said she wanted to sleep in her room by herself. This is a big step because up to now she was always scared to sleep by herself so she slept with London in London's room. Tonight is the second night that she has slept in her room by herself! Big and welcome step.
Atticus' baseball game today. It was a good one:
He plays first base and bats clean-up. His team, The Landsharks beat Maiden's team 9-0.

First time on the XR80 and possible mono
I recently purchased a Honda XR 80 trailbike from an individual at Lake Wylie. I had to put another $80 in it to get both tire tubes replaced.
The XR 80 has a clutch and four forward gears. This was the first time that Atticus had a chance to ride a bike with a clutch. He did pretty well and only stalled it a few times and fell over with it when he came to a stop a few times as well.
He did figure out how to successfully change from first to second gear on the fly.
We were riding at my mother and father's house with Atticus' best buddy Smith.
On another note it appears that London might have mononucleosis. She has been running a fever for about a week and is been to the doctor. The doctor says it is too early to positively diagnose Mono, however next week we will try again for positive verification of her condition.
If it's mono it will really suck because that means she'll miss a lot of school and almost all of her softball season. But I guess I'd rather be mono than some other type of worse disease.

New Parental Titles
For a while now our three children have not been calling me and Tamara by name. They call me "Dagoo" and Tamara "Mermgoo."
It all started when London came home singing a song she made up with lyrics that go:
Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaaah
My name is Dagooooooo
My Dagoo is the best
He's weird too!
Cheeseballs.
The last line was added by Arienne a few weeks after the initial creation of the lyrics.
So this little song became popular and she even had her friends singing it with her. The popularity then changed into my full-time name. They frequently do the baby talk thing and Dagoo fits in perfectly with this whiny speaking inflection. It becomes very annoying very quickly listening to the baby talk. All 3 of my children call me Dagoo more often than they call me Dad or any other name.
Tamara's name is a bit different but along the same lines. Since they loved the attention they got when they called me Dagoo they started adding the "goo" suffix to the names of all the people and pets in our house. Tamara became "Momgoo" then that somehow morphed into "Mermgoo"
London is "Longoo"
Adrienne is "Adriennegoo"
The dog Stanis is "Stangoo"
The dog Renly is "Rengoo"
And Atticus is not "Attigoo" as expected but "Attipoo."
Adrienne's alternate name is "Sausage Weiner Schnitzel."
London's alternate name is "Pie Eater"
I wish I had the same level of creativity!

Carnival Fantasy Cruise
The family took a cruise over Thanksgiving from Charleston, SC on board the Carnival Fantasy. We were told by a nice lady at the 800 number that we were allowed to bring 1 bottle of wine per adult over the age of 21 so I took this advice and packed a bottle of wine for me and one for my wife. When the bags arrived at our room we discovered that they took all of our wine and left us a note indicating that we could pick up the wine at the end of the cruise. So much for good customer service! We were so rushed to leave at the end of the cruise that I forgot to go to pick up the wine. I am picturing some of the crew chugging my very nice expensive bottle of Chappellet wine and having no idea what they are drinking.
We stayed in cabin E161 which is on level 7 on the Empress deck. I have five in my family and we all fit but it was very close quarters. There was one king sized bed, two twin uppers that pulled out of the wall and one trundle bed on the floor. The bathroom was very small and smelled of urine- not so appealing.
The thing that was really annoying about the room was some machinery on the other side of the wall that ran during the night. It kept me awake for the first two nights with the drone- it almost sounded like a washing machine. I asked the nice Indonesian man who looked after our room what was on the other side of the wall of our interior cabin and he indicated that it was an air conditioning system. I would recommend not staying in E161 for this reason- especially if you are a light sleeper.

Chinese Drivers
After spending more than 20 hours in a car riding in and around Shanghai and the adjoining countryside I can honestly say that Chinese drivers are a breed of their own.
The roads in and around Shanghai and probably most of the rest of the east coast of China are new, wide, smooth and well planned. All of the highways have at least two lanes in each direction and usually three or four. The pavement is all asphalt and there are guardrails on both sides all the time- not just along dangerous sections as in the USA. Signange is plentiful and in both Chinese and English.
So the Chinese people have a great infrastructure on which to drive safely at high speeds. The issue is that they don't. I like to call them "wanderers." For some reason they have a very difficult time staying in their lane. If the road is open a good amount of the time many drivers will just straddle two lanes or weave back and forth between two or three lanes- continuously. The do not stay in their own lane. This applies even when there are other cars adjacent to them on the highway- they will creep over into the other lane forcing the driver in the other lane to avoid them by moving over or slowing down.
If they are driving a truck at 50 kph in a 120 kph zone, they will probably stay in the middle lane of 3 and go slow. If they are driving a car at 50 kph a 120 kph zone they will stay in the left hand lane no matter how many people are behind them blowing the horn and flashing their hi-beams.
Most don't use turn signals.
In the slower speed areas many people will just pull out without looking what is coming and expect the oncoming traffic to swerve to miss them.
I am truly amazed I have not seem many accidents. I think these people are worse drivers than Hondurans.
